Working Together to Enhance Your Smile
As with all cosmetic dentistry procedures we offer, Dr. Armstrong places porcelain veneers only after you have expressed all of your goals and concerns, and have fully considered your options for achieving the smile you want. We aim for long-term satisfaction with our treatments, and we know that the very best way to achieve this is by listening to you and helping you understand our our treatments.
Placing porcelain veneers typically requires two visits to our office. During your first visit, the tooth or teeth you wish to enhance must be prepped to accommodate veneers. This involves removing a very small portion of the enamel on the tooth's front surface, roughly equal to the thickness of an egg shell. Next, we use a soft molding material to take an impression of your prepared tooth. This impression is sent to an offsite laboratory, where skilled technicians will follow Dr. Armstrong's specifications for creating a veneer that is precisely the right color and shape to achieve a natural-looking, long-lasting enhancement. Creating a custom veneer takes about two weeks.
When your veneer is complete, we will schedule a second appointment. Very light etching is placed on the front surface of the tooth, which will help it bond to the veneer. Next, Dr. Armstrong will "try in" your veneer to ensure that it is a proper fit. If necessary, any fine adjustments will be made at this time. Next, a special adhesive is applied to the tooth, and the veneer is set in place. A special curing light is used to expedite the bonding process. Finally, you can leave our offices with a beautiful, confident new smile.
