Accurate Diagnosis and Planning with 3D Imaging
While x-rays have been an integral tool in dentistry for more than a century, these black and white images only provide the doctor with a two-dimensional view of a treatment area. Thanks to advances in dental technology, Dr. Damien Armstrong uses 3D imaging at his East Brainerd, TN, practice to diagnose, plan treatment, and perform complex procedures with extreme precision. Using this state-of-the-art technology, we can evaluate your oral health concerns and create a custom treatment plan to address your unique needs. Contact River City Dentistry today to learn more about the benefits of 3D imaging technology.
Our Advanced Cone Beam CT Scanner
At River City Dentistry, we can capture advanced 3D images of your teeth and jaw using a cone beam computerized tomography (CT) scanner. This cutting-edge technology uses focused beams of energy to create a 3D image of the treatment area. Each 3D digital image can be manipulated and magnified using special software, giving Dr. Armstrong the ability to plan procedures with great precision. When compared to dental x-rays, 3D images allow the doctor to better evaluate the volume, density, shape, and integrity of a patient's teeth and oral structures.
Benefits of 3D Imaging
Versatile 3D imaging technology offers benefits to a wide range of patients. If you have a damaged tooth, we can use 3D imaging to help create a custom same-day crown that will restore your smile in a single visit. After taking a 3D image of the affected tooth, our in-office CEREC® machine will craft a beautiful new restoration based on these detailed impressions. For patients suffering from chronic jaw pain or headaches, we can use 3D imaging to evaluate the temporomandibular joints (TMJs) and identify causes of TMJ disorder. The use of this advanced technology throughout dental implant, bone grafting, and full mouth reconstruction procedures allows Dr. Armstrong to plan every phase of treatment with accuracy and precision.
Enhancing Dental Implant Placement
If you are seeking the functional and cosmetic benefits of dental implant-supported restorations, we can use our 3D imaging technology for precise placement. Dental implants are small metal posts that are surgically placed in the jaw. Once healed, implants serve the role of missing tooth roots and provide unparalleled support for dental restorations and benefits to your oral health. Traditional dental x-rays are less accurate than CT scans, making it more difficult to plan and execute an implant procedure. When planning your implant placement, Dr. Armstrong can use 3D imaging to examine your jawbone, sinus cavities, and vital nerves to identify the ideal location for each implant. In order to receive implants, patients must have sufficient jawbone density to support the implanted posts. Thanks to 3D imaging, we can assess the density and strength of your jaw with greater accuracy, allowing Dr. Armstrong to better evaluate your candidacy.
