All-on-4: An Advanced Method for Full-Arch Replacement
All-on-4® dental implants are an advanced solution for missing teeth that uses fewer, strategically placed implants to anchor a full denture. As such, All-on-4 can be an ideal solution for patients who have been told they do not qualify for traditional implant placement due to jawbone recession.
At River City Dentistry, Dr. Damien F. Armstrong can place All-on-4 implants and provide a high-quality restoration the same day. If you undergo treatment at his Chattanooga or East Brainerd, TN, office, we can ensure that every aspect of your implant-supported restoration is held to the highest standards.
Is All-on-4 Right for You?
Patients who have experienced widespread tooth loss or need to have most of their teeth extracted will most likely need an implant-supported denture. While you can receive a prosthesis supported through traditional implant placement, you will need to wait four to six months to fully restore your smile.
Alternatively, patients who receive All-on-4 dental implants can complete their smile the same day with a high-quality traditional denture that is fixed to the implants. All-on-4 is also often recommended for patients who have suffered jawbone atrophy and are no longer candidates for traditional dental implants.
How Does All-on-4 Work?
All-on-4 is a sophisticated dental implant placement technique that maximizes the support you can get from existing jawbone tissue. Instead of placing six or more implants straight down into the jaw, Dr. Armstrong can secure your entire restoration with only four implants: two placed vertically and the other two at an angle. Once placed, your All-on-4 prosthesis will function like your natural teeth.
What to Expect during the Treatment Process
Dr. Armstrong believes that preparation is key to achieving the best possible outcome. As such, he begins every treatment with a detailed planning process. He will use the latest technology, including 3-D x-rays, to evaluate your bite and determine the best placement of your implants for maximum stability.
All-on-4 dental implants can restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.
Your implant surgery and restoration placement will be performed at our office. For your comfort and safety, intravenous (IV) sedation can be also administered in-house by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or a plastic surgeon.
To begin, Dr. Armstrong will create several incisions in the gums. Through these, he can then carefully create small holes in the jawbone and place your implants. Once complete, he will close the incisions. He will then attach your temporary denture so you can leave with a complete, fully functioning smile.
The recovery for All-on-4 implants is less intensive than that required for traditional implant surgery because of the reduced number of implants placed. Over the next seven to 10 days, your progress will be closely monitored during post-op appointments. While it does take most patients a few days to adjust to their new dentures, most are able to eat and speak normally within a week.
