Dental anxiety can cause you to neglect the treatments you need to maintain a healthy smile. Eventually, this will have serious consequences.
You can overcome your fears and relax with sedation dentistry offered at River City Dental's Chattanooga and East Brainerd, TN, offices.
Why should I consider using sedation for my next treatment?
A Better Dental Experience with Sedation Dentistry
Feel at EaseSedation helps you feel calm during treatment. To ensure you are comfortable, sedation is paired with a local anesthetic which numbs the treatment area so you do not feel pain.
More Efficient TreatmentSince you will be relaxed, Drs. Armstrong and Logan can work more efficiently without interference. This is especially beneficial when undergoing extensive dental treatment.
Alleviate Your FearA pleasant dental experience with sedation can help you form a better relationship with the dentist and make it easier to maintain your oral health. This can have far-reaching benefits.
We offer three types of sedation at our Chattanooga and East Brainerd offices...
Dr. Damien Armstrong and his friendly staff strive to make their patients' experience as relaxing and comfortable as possible. If you experience anxiety when visiting the dentist's office, or if you are especially sensitive to dental treatment, we offer sedation dentistry. Our Chattanooga practice offers oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide, two safe and effective methods that can help you feel calm and more receptive to treatment. Anxiety and pronounced sensitivity can happen in patients of all ages, and we strive to do everything in our power to help our patients feel comfortable pursuing and undergoing the dental treatment they absolutely need. If you are in need of dental care, and would like to learn how sedation dentistry can help, please contact our Chattanooga practice serving East Brainerd and surrounding communities today.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation places the patient in a state of near-sleep. You will still be able to respond to commands, but you will be very
relaxed, and when the effects of the drug subside, you will probably have little or no memories of your experience. You will be given a pill to take before coming to our office. For this reason, it is very important to have a friend, family member or loved one drive you to your appointment. Depending upon how quickly the drug takes effect, you may also need assistance getting into a vehicle, entering the building, and moving from room to room.
Once your treatment is complete, whoever accompanies you to your appointment will help you get home safely. You can expect to feel mildly sedated for awhile following treatment, so budget time to sleep or relax at home.
This method of sedation involves inhaling a mixture of 70% oxygen and 30% nitrous. You will experience a relaxed euphoria that also diminishes pain and gag reflex. Once the flow of nitrous oxide is stopped, the effects will wear off after about three to five minutes. There is no "hangover" after this point, and you will be able to safely drive yourself home following treatment.
